Bradgate Nurseries Ltd was started in 1990 by Mark Earp who is still Managing Director today. We started growing plants and bedding plants at our nursery in Melbourne, soon adding ranges of herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees.

After running garden centres for 20 years, Mark decided to set up GreatGardensOnline.com in 2009, to respond to our customers' needs for easy access to our vast range of quality products. We now offer the same great customer service through our GreatGardensOnline website to the whole of the UK and beyond! Sarah, Debbie, Maxine, Jean and Nikki will be dealing with all your enquiries at GreatGardensOnline and if they can't answer your query, they know a person who can!

Our garden centre at Staunton Harold, Leicestershire, was purchased in 1990; it then sold just a small range of plants and goods, but has grown into the extensive garden centre it is today. The garden centre is set in the middle of a country estate with a National Trust church and lake, making it a great location for a day trip or visit.

Kim Stretton has worked with Mark as Plant Area Manager at Melbourne and Staunton Harold since the business started.

Angela Murray has also worked alongside Mark in the business since 1990 and is now retail Shop Manager, looking after all the non-plant side of the business, ably supported by her Assistant Shop Manager Linda Geering.

Peach House Restaurant, within Staunton Harold Nurseries & Garden Centre, was extended in 2006 and now seats 120 guests. Neil Munton ensures a good selection of daily specials as well as light snacks in a pleasant environment.

If you have any queries or questions please email them to us and we will try to help. Although please note we do let our specialist staff have days off, and amazingly even holidays, so please be patient with us whilst we get back to you with answers to some queries.

At our GreatGardensOnline.com and Staunton Harold Garden Centre, we have an extensive range of plants, of all types and sizes to suit most customer requirements, and a large range of general gardening goods. At Staunton there is also a superb Christmas display and Santa's Grotto that opens early in October.

Garden furniture has always been our speciality and since 1996 Mark has travelled to Vietnam, China, Malaysia, India and Indonesia to source quality garden furniture which we buy direct to enable us to sell at very reasonable prices.

This does mean that not all plants or goods featured on ourGreatGardensOnline.com website will be available at our garden centre at all times. Please call beforehand to check if any specific item is available at our garden centre before travelling. We wouldn't like you to have a wasted journey. Prices may also occasionally vary between the garden centre and GreatGardensOnline.com.

Our plants are usually well established, supplied in 9cm pots, or larger. These are ready to be planted out into the garden or into patio pots, and should not be confused with the cheaper small plant plugs available on many web sites. With our gardening goods we search the market for quality items that provide the best value for money. Often this will be the same branded goods seen in many garden centres, but we also source many products direct from the manufacturer in this country and abroad, when we feel we can provide better value for money by doing so. These are sold under our own GreatGardensOnline.com brand; this often applies in our garden furniture ranges.

Our objectives:

  1. To provide a great selection of plants and goods with excellent customer service, continually increasing the ranges available to fulfil all of our customers' gardening needs.
  2. To provide a wealth of information on the plants and goods available.
  3. To provide excellent value for money.
  4. To operate in an environmentally friendly manner, recycling where possible and keeping our carbon footprint to a minimum.
