The heat deflector plate is a high quality ceramic insert which can be placed inside the Buschbeck XL Kamando Girll and positioned over where the charcoal is burning. This allows heat to be deflected up and around the food on the cooking rack. This protects it from direct heat. This method using a heat deflector is indirect grilling. Furthermore, it helps heat distribution and helps the meat cook evenly without burning.
